CHEEZ
I got my first set of grillz in Houston, Texas for my 29th birthday. Something about having my bottom row blinged out, just boosted my energy by 1000%. Texas has such rich culture, especially for Black folks. I’m honored to have a great friend from there, and she brought me to Galveston, the home of Juneteenth, where I met her family and had (dare I say) the best seafood ever. Texas gets a bad rap because of the state’s politics, but cities like Dallas, Houston, and Fort Worth house some of the most creative, culture-forward Black people in the world. This piece is dedicated to them.
